I got a class action settlement notice — should I opt out?
I received a letter saying I am part of a class action settlement about hidden fees on my account. It says I can opt out. What does that mean and should I?

Staying in the class usually means you will receive a share of the settlement (sometimes only after submitting a claim form) and you give up the right to sue separately over the same issue.
Opting out means you get nothing from the settlement but keep your right to bring your own case. That generally makes sense only if your losses are much larger than typical class members’ and you are prepared to pursue an individual claim.
Notices list firm deadlines for claims, opt-outs and objections. Mark them, and check that the notice is genuine by using the official settlement website or court records rather than links in an unexpected email.
