This Privacy Policy explains how Law Agora (“we,” “us,” or “the Service”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website at lawagora.com.
What information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: name, email, password (hashed), role (client, lawyer, firm admin), country.
- Lawyer profile information: bar number and jurisdiction (used for verification, not displayed publicly), professional bio, practice areas, fees, languages, office address and phone, profile photo.
- Inquiry content: messages you send to lawyers via our contact forms or messaging system.
- Q&A submissions: questions and answers you post (with your name, or anonymously if you opt-in).
- Reviews: ratings and review text you submit for lawyers.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages viewed, search queries, filters applied. Aggregated and not tied to identifiable users where possible.
- Device and browser data: IP address, user agent, referrer.
- Cookies: see our Cookie Policy for the complete list. We do not currently use analytics or marketing cookies.
How we use information
- To operate the Service: matching clients with lawyers, displaying profiles, processing inquiries.
- To verify lawyer credentials against bar registries.
- To moderate content and prevent spam, abuse, or fraud.
- To communicate with you about your account, inquiries, and platform updates.
- To improve the Service: analyzing aggregated usage patterns.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- Between connected parties: messages you send to a lawyer are visible to that lawyer; reviews you publish are visible to all visitors.
- With service providers who help us run the Service (hosting, email delivery, payment processing). These providers are bound by data-processing agreements.
- If required by law: in response to a valid legal process or to protect rights, property, or safety.
Encryption and security
All traffic to the Service is encrypted in transit via HTTPS. Messages between clients and lawyers are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. Account passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the EU GDPR and California CCPA), you may have rights to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Receive a portable copy of your data.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
Data retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations. Deleted accounts have personal data removed; messages and Q&A content may be retained in anonymized form (sender_user_id set to NULL) so the recipient’s record stays intact.
International transfers
Law Agora operates globally. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the site. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
