What compensation am I entitled to for a cancelled flight?
My flight was cancelled the night before departure and I was rebooked two days later. I paid for an extra hotel and missed a non-refundable tour.

Rights depend heavily on where the flight departed from, where it was going, and which airline operated it. Some regions have passenger rights rules that provide fixed compensation, rebooking, refunds and care such as meals and accommodation, unless the cancellation was due to extraordinary circumstances.
- Keep receipts for all extra costs.
- Get the airline’s stated reason in writing.
- Submit a claim through the airline first.
If the airline refuses, there is often an alternative dispute resolution scheme or regulator you can escalate to.
