These Lawyer Terms supplement the general Terms of Service and apply to anyone using Law Agora as a licensed legal practitioner.
Eligibility
To register as a lawyer, you must be admitted to practice law in at least one jurisdiction and in good standing. You must provide accurate bar admission details (bar number, jurisdiction, status). Misrepresenting your credentials is grounds for immediate termination of your account.
Verification
We verify bar admission against publicly available bar registries before displaying the green “Bar verified” badge. Until verification completes, your profile is published with a “Pending verification” status. Verification reflects the state of bar records at that time; you must update your profile if your status changes.
Profile content
You are responsible for the accuracy of your profile, including practice areas, fees, languages, and credentials. You may not advertise services you are not licensed to perform in the relevant jurisdiction. You may not list practice areas as “specialties” unless you are certified as a specialist by an authorized body.
Client interactions
- You agree not to share client communications received via the Service with third parties without consent (except as required by law).
- You agree to maintain a clear separation between informational responses (Q&A, articles, initial inquiries) and any formal legal advice or representation, which requires a separate engagement.
- You may decline any inquiry without giving a reason.
- You will respond to inquiries within a reasonable time or update your availability status.
Fees and pricing
You are responsible for setting and disclosing your fees. Fees displayed on your profile are estimates; actual quotes are between you and the client. You may not charge clients through Law Agora for legal services — the Service is a directory and matching platform, not a payment processor for retainers.
Reviews
Reviews from verified clients are published as submitted. You may flag a review for admin review if you believe it violates the Code of Conduct (defamation, false claims, etc.) but may not have it removed solely because it is unfavorable. You may not pay for, solicit, or incentivize fake reviews.
Subscription tiers
Basic membership is free. Premium tiers (Pro, Firm) provide additional features as listed on the pricing page. Subscription terms are part of the general Terms of Service.
Pro bono opt-in
Lawyers who certify they accept pro bono matters in good faith may apply for a free Pro tier. We will request reasonable documentation of your pro bono availability. Misrepresenting your pro bono status is grounds for revoking the comp.
Conflicts of interest
You are responsible for screening incoming inquiries for conflicts of interest before engaging a client. The Service does not perform conflict checks.
Compliance
You are responsible for complying with the rules of professional conduct in every jurisdiction where you practice, including advertising rules, solicitation rules, and unauthorized practice of law (UPL) prohibitions.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if your bar status lapses or is revoked, if you violate these Lawyer Terms or the Code of Conduct, or if your conduct on the Service threatens the integrity of the platform.
