Personal Injury
What is my personal injury claim worth?
I broke my wrist after tripping on a broken step at a shop. I needed surgery and missed six weeks of work. How do lawyers work out what a claim like this is worth?

Claims are usually built from two categories of loss:
- Economic losses: medical bills, future treatment, lost wages, reduced earning capacity, and out-of-pocket costs like travel to appointments.
- Non-economic losses: pain, suffering, and loss of enjoyment of life.
The value then depends on how clearly the other party was at fault, the available insurance, and any local rules or caps. There is no reliable formula, and online calculators can be misleading.
Keep every receipt and pay slip, and photograph the hazard if it is still there.
