What happens if the other side breaches our contract?
A supplier agreed to deliver materials by a fixed date and missed it by three weeks, which cost me a customer order. Can I claim my lost profit from them?

When one party fails to do what the contract requires, the other party is usually entitled to a remedy. The most common is damages — money intended to put you in the position you would have been in if the contract had been performed.
Whether lost profits are recoverable often depends on whether that kind of loss was reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made, whether you can prove the amount, and whether you took reasonable steps to reduce your loss. Many supply contracts also contain clauses that limit or exclude liability for indirect or consequential losses, so check the terms carefully.
Gather the contract, delivery records, correspondence about the delay, and documents showing the lost order and its value. A lawyer can then assess what is realistically recoverable.
