Director of Oxford University Foreign Service Programme

Applications are invited for the post of Director of the Oxford University Foreign Service Programme.

The Programme provides a course of academic study designed for serving diplomats, many from developing countries and countries in transition. The Director is responsible for the overall direction of the Foreign Service Programme and is Course Director for the Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma in Diplomatic Studies and for the Master of Studies in Diplomatic Studies. Drawing on personal experience, and understanding of the working of foreign ministries and overseas missions, he or she also organises, and teaches in, the Diplomatic Practice course, arranges study tours and hosts speaker dinners. The remaining teaching is undertaken by members of the University faculty.

You will have a first degree or equivalent; extensive international diplomatic experience at a senior level; and demonstrated ability to teach diplomatic practice at the required level for the programme. You will be able to provide support and guidance to the Programme members, all of whom are from overseas, and have the ability to work effectively with colleagues as part of a team.

This is a part-time 80% post to start from 1 September, 2015. The post is offered with a fellowship at Kellogg College.
